Ciprian Necula
Chairman
He began his career as a human rights activist under the supervision and guidance of Nicolae Gheorghe, using innovative tools to address stereotypes and prejudices against Roma.
He was a journalist, initiator of public campaigns, promoter of socio-economic projects, political analyst, co-founder of a social enterprise, leader of a Roma non-governmental organization, consultant for international organizations.
He held the position of State Secretary in the Ministry of European Funds and is a founding member of the Roma civic platform #Aresel.
Ciprian is a doctor in sociology and teaches the course “Masculinity and ethnicity” at SNSPA University in Bucharest. He coordinates the first European master’s program in Romani Studies.
Andrew Ryder
He is an associate professor at Corvinus University Budapest and an intern at the Third Sector Research Center (University of Birmingham). From 1990 to 2001 he worked as a teacher in state schools and, together with the British Council team, taught Roma children in Great Britain, Hungary and Portugal.
From 2002 to 2006, Ryder was a consultant to the Roma and Traveler Rights Reform Coalition (GTLRC), which lobbied for more spaces for Travelers and greater social inclusion. GTLRC received the Liberty Human Rights Award in 2004. Ryder was the All-Party Parliamentary Group Researcher on Roma and Travelers from 2002 – 2007. Between 2006 and 2009 he was National Policy Officer for the Travelers Movement. His interests focus on Travellers/marginalized groups, social justice, community groups/social movements and participatory action research. Ryder was recently contracted by Policy Press to write a book on Brexit.
Stanislav Daniel
He is an activist, lawyer, researcher and trainer for Roma rights in Slovakia. Being an active member of the community, his skills combine grassroots field experience with theory, knowledge acquired through both formal and non-formal education.
He worked at the Roma Education Fund, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the OSCE, the European Center for Roma Rights and the Open Society Foundations in Bratislava. He has extensive experience in research and advocacy on topics such as education, freedom of movement, health and the state’s response to racially motivated violence. Worked with the International Step by Step Association, specifically promoting access to quality services for young children. He currently works with Porticus as a grant manager responsible for educational initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe. He is also co-chair of the European Roma Grassroots Organizations (ERGO) network in Brussels.
